MASKS HISTORY

Masks in Venice orother parts of Italy were very much used with aristocrats in dances while among poor people to ask for money at the corners of the streets  not to be recognized.  In 1773 were established  masks stores. Nel 1776, a new law in Italy  was to protect  the family honor  and prohibited women to go to the theatre without a mask.
After the fall of the Venetian republic the mask became an artistic expression that every year conquers the beautiful stage of San Marco Square that we called : Piazza san Marco.

Venetian masks are made several in porcellan others using glass material, characterised by their ornate design, featuring bright colours such as gold or silver and the use of complex decorations in the baroque style. They can be full-face masks or eye masks.
